Mr Tan Peng Yeon

Mr Tan graduated from the National University of SIngapore with the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) Honors in 1994. He worked in the private sector as a marketing manager for 4 years before he took up the Postgraduate in Diploma of Education (Secondary) course in the National Institute of Education in 1999.

He was posted to Bukit Batok Secondary School (BBSS) as Physics teacher from 2000 to 2002. During the 3-year stay in BBSS, he brought the school’s GCE ‘O’ Level Physics results and GCE ‘O’ Level Science results for Sec 5 Normal Academic students to an all time high in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Mr Tan left BBSS and joined Woodlands Secondary School as the Head of Science Department in 2003. In just a year’s time, he led the Science Department of the school to break the downward GCE ‘O’ Levels results trend and the school achieved value added results in Science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) in 2004.

In 2005, Mr Tan founded Fun Learners Pte Ltd. The company hopes to support schools in teaching aids, pedagogy and content knowledge.

Mr Tan has great interest in studying the ways that allow learners to learn voluntarily and independently with great joy. He engages learners by introducing the element of FUN and RELEVANCE into the curriculum. He believes in hands-on activities which enable learners to learn through their 5 senses.

In 2007, Mr Tan published his first assessment book “1001 Physics MCQs for O Level”. The book became the top selling physics assessment book for Pearson in 2008. Subsequently, he published another two books, “801 Science Physics MCQs for O Level” and “801 Science Physics MCQs for N Level”. 

In 2009, Mr Tan co-wrote “Discovery Physics Normal (A) 5 N” textbook with two other authors. 

In 2010, Mr Tan set up Fun Learning Yard (FLY) in 2010. FLY aims to support the schools in providing hands-on learning experience in the fun ways. It also hopes to encourage family bonding through organising interesting activities for families.
